Project context
Each project management instance needs to take its context into account strategically and persistently:
- The local campus culture (or cultures, for inter-campus collaborations)
- Institutional, organizational structures
- Computing platforms
- Timelines (external to project's internal and emergent needs)
Example: the MIT Distributed Library Initiative, which had to bridge two "different 'cultures' that emphasize rather distinct values and goals" (Davis-Millis and Owens, (1997)
Context analysis is the process of establishing a process' scope. This involves determining a boundary between internal and external factors, along with inputs, outputs, and interfaces (Gantthead).
